Google Ads Landing Page Checklist: Turn More Clicks Into Customers
You pay for every click. This checklist shows what your landing page needs so more of those clicks become calls, leads and sales.

You pay for every click, so the page people land on decides whether that money becomes a lead or disappears. Improving a landing page is often the fastest way to lower cost per lead, because it makes every click you already buy more valuable. Use this checklist on each page that receives ad traffic.
Message match between your ad and your page
- The headline repeats the promise or service from the ad
- The page is about one service or product, not your whole business
- Location pages mention the area the visitor searched for
- Offers in the ad (free quote, discount, same-day service) appear above the fold
- Visitors can tell within five seconds what you offer and what to do next
If someone searches for "emergency plumber" and lands on a homepage about bathroom renovations, they leave. Send each ad group to the most specific page you have, or build one.
Mobile speed and a clear call to action
Most local searches happen on phones. A slow or cluttered page loses the visitor before they read anything.
- The page loads in under three seconds on mobile data
- Images are compressed and sized for mobile
- One main call to action, repeated down the page
- A tap-to-call button that stays visible on mobile
- Forms ask only for what you need to follow up
- The main navigation is removed or minimized, so there are fewer ways to leave
Trust signals that remove doubt
People hesitate before calling a business they have never heard of. Put the proof where the doubt appears.
- Reviews with names and star ratings near the call to action
- Licences, certifications, insurance or guarantees
- Real photos of your team, work or products
- Clear pricing or price ranges where possible
- Service areas, opening hours and response times
- Short answers to the questions customers ask before buying
Tracking every call, form and purchase
A landing page you cannot measure cannot be improved.
- Form submissions tracked as conversions in Google Ads and GA4
- Calls from the page tracked, including tap-to-call clicks
- Purchases tracked with order value
- Conversions tested after every change to the page
- Heatmaps or session recordings to see where visitors stop
How to improve over time
Change one thing at a time and measure the result over a meaningful number of visits. Good tests to start with:
- A clearer headline that repeats the search
- A shorter form
- Moving reviews closer to the call to action
- Adding a price range or a stronger offer
- A sticky mobile call button
Small improvements add up. Moving from a 4 percent to a 6 percent conversion rate means 50 percent more leads from the same ad budget.
